It's amazing how creative you all are! Your ideas for "cloche" displays are so unique.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY SISTER!

I've been out of the loop recently as we have taken a trip to Georgia to visit mom and dad and my sister Cindy in Georgia.

Today is Cindy's birthday! She's....well let's just say she's a littler older than me. Tee Hee! She is so special. As I've mentioned in my bio she has been my inspiration for blogging and all things Vintage. What I haven't mentioned is that she's the coolest sister anyone could ask for. If God would have allowed me to pick a sister it would be Cindy. She's gone through "thick and very thin" with me.

In 2002, I was in the hospital for 20 days and off food and water for over 2 months with a psuedo cyst on my pancreas. She was a life line to me...we live 950 miles apart and she would stay on the phone with me for hours entertaining me with her humor and most of all her love. There is very little we don't know about one another.

When we can be ourselves with our friends, it takes the relationship to another level. We've had to say "I'm sorry to each other several....times but, we forgive, forget and look forward to embracing the times we can share together.

To all sisters and friends...consider yourself HUGGED today!

THE BUTTON QUEEN

I'd like to think that my mother would have won the title of "Button Queen" with all the sewing she's done over the years. Her passion since at least the age of 12 has been sewing. She has sewn everything from undergarments to making my dad suit coats. When all the other kids at school in the 70's wore the latest garments, we would be decked out with her latest creations. At the time I didn't think it was so cool, but looking back I know that I was blessed by it. She would sew from morning to evening and then some. Our dad would tease her about it, but he would drag people back to their closets and show them her latest designs. He was and still is very proud of her. Mom will be 80 on the 26th of this month, so I guess this post is in honor of her.

I started this post with showing where we spent our Saturday on Easter weekend in mind, which was the following http://69.49.80.78/museum/Update%20Web/History%20Main%20Page.htm. As we toured the museum and the shops along the street in this quaint little town, my thoughts kept going to "mom" and her years of sewing and many buttons that she used.

Pussy Willows and Palm Sunday

Recently, I purchased a bouquet of pussy willow branches at one of my favorite antique shops, brought them home and placed them in a vase. As soon as my DH saw them he informed me that we could put them in water and they would sprout. Hmmnnn....more work? I hadn't thought of planting a pussy willow bush in the landscape. Within days they have rooted and look like they're ready to plant. I googled the "how too" and was surprised at what I found.

The Pussy Willow branches instead of olive or palm branches are sometimes used in the processions of "Willow Sunday", know throughout Europe. Or, what we recognize as "Palm Sunday".

I look forward to watching the growth of the "Pussy Willow" bush when planted and its reminder of my new found meaning for it.

New Blog Give-away

What better way to kick off a new blog than a "give~away"!

I've so much enjoyed reading the many creative blogs I've come across in "blog world" that I have decided to join in the fun with my own blog. Hopefully, you will find something here from time to time that might "brighten your day".

The miniature vintage cream and sugar set for give~away is Lefton and just "too cute". They stand approximately 2" tall.
